Tabula app vs BGA implementation

Hi,

My partner and I both own hundreds of games and we try lots of new/other games. But Volfyirion is the 2 player game we always come back to. It is really solid and nice.

I’m also backing guilds. Sadly the boardgamearena (BGA) implementation is currently not playable via mobile (you cannot see/select your hand cards).

Enough intro :grinning: main question:
Why do you develop this as an App yourself, if there is a BGA implementation (which has an app itself)?

Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate your commitment and know about the freedom it provides. But, as I work in software engineering myself, I know how costly it is and how long it takes to make it sound (bug free, easy to use and appealing), which is where BGA has a huge lead over Tabula.

I registered for the alpha, so I’m eager to see myself.

This topic is definitely interesting, thanks for your involvement and support.

First, it is necessary to clarify that Volfyirion Digital will be a digital transposition playable on iOS, Android and Steam. It is correct to call it an app, but we need to distinguish this project from the paper game support apps we’ve released so far.

The project was created in collaboration with a partner software house, which is in charge of the development. As such, Volfyirion Digital is owned by Tabula Games and will not depend on external platforms to be accessible and updated, one of the main reasons why we think it’s worth working on it even though the BGA and TTS adaptations also exist.

In fact, we’re talking about a digital transposition of the game, not an adaptation of it, which gives us much more freedom. We have the possibility to provide players with a 3D environment accurate in every detail, subject to updates of all kinds, with its own community.

The long-term benefits to us fairly outweigh the effort this project requires. Thanks to you backers and enthusiasts, the process is becoming even more satisfying, and we’ re just at the beginning! :wink:
